Mulan SQM/QoS Evaluation

A field study of WAN SQM, per-radio SQM, and flow offload on Mulan, Octocore's OpenWrt One residential edge router.

We published a technical manuscript summarizing the controlled Mulan SQM/QoS evaluation. The study compares WAN CAKE/SQM, firewall flow offload, and 5 GHz radio SQM using the evidence collected from the July 2026 OpenWrt One tuning work.

The current recommendation is to operate Mulan in the validated throughput profile: WAN SQM off, per-radio SQM off, and firewall software/hardware flow offload on. SQM remains installed and scripted as a reversible test profile for later hardwired LAN-client validation.
